So, I probably should use this thing more..eyy?
Well I have not posted on this in over a year, but this year it is bound to be more active. I promise.
There are big things going on for me this year. I decided to not go home this summer and stay in Spokane. I have an internship with Washington State Representative Kevin Parker, and what a blessing it has been. I have been learning so much this summer about government, politics, campaigns and so much more. I have had the chance to meet some very amazing leaders and so many doors have opened for me. I feel so blessed to have been given this amazing opportunity. Kevin is great, he is the perfect role model of a leader. He is really doing his job for the right reasons, for the people of Washington State. He is continuously a positive influence in my life and is teaching me so many great things about Washington politics.
More news, for those of you that dont know I will be spending Spring Semester in Costa Rica! I bought my plane tickets a little over a week ago. I leave January 29th and come back May 11th. I will be taking classes down there at Whitworth's satellite campus. I also will be staying with a home stay family, which I am really excited about because it will be nice to have the cultural experience. I hope to get an internships while i am down there in some sort of government field. This is partially because Costa Rica just currently inaugurated their first woman president! How exciting! I would also like to help and work in an orphanage or school. We will be having a lot of free time, which will allow me to do these things!
I am so excited for the trip, and nor do I really have any nervousness about the trip. The only thing i fear is being away from people for so long. I have a fear that relationships will change and things will be different when I come back. I understand people grow in different ways, but I dont know something just scares me about it. Maybe it is because I am partially confused about my place among the people that I know. I hope to feel some since of comfort before I leave to put me at ease.
On another note, my brother is a little over a month away from starting his senior year in high school. It seems so crazy to me! Luckily I will be back ten days before his graduation, so I will be able to see him graduate and be apart of all of it!
At this point, I am just ready for school to be back in session. I miss my friends! Also, I am pretty excited, I am moving into a campus owned house with my friend Kelsey. We are so stoked to have our own space and it is kind of one step to be completely in our own atmosphere. This only thing that isnt is that this house is owned by Whitworth and right across the street. But, really! I cant wait for my friends to come back, Kelsey is coming back early and staying with me, but I am excited for everyone else to come back as well! I met some amazing people last year and am really excited about continuing friendships and making a ton more memories.
Well that is all for now!
God Bless,
Chelsie
