I have decided to place my thoughts in this blog. I am not quite sure why but maybe someone out there wants to here my story? Ha..one could only hope. So a little background about me..
For the past 4 years i have been living in Eastern Oregon with my parents. I was just like any other teenager going to school playing sports and hanging out with friends, but half way through my Senior year my life changed dramatically. My father Nels Hadden was returning home from work on January 26th when a car flipped over in front of him. he stopped to help and in the process was hit by another driver who lost control of her car and slid into my dad at over 50mph. My dad was then life flighted to a hospital in Portland. Where he suffered critical injuries torn aorta,lacerated liver,lacerated intestines, all bones broken except his spine and right arm which includes the pelvis and ribs..and punctured lungs. In the hospital my dad fought deadly infections and renal failure all making the doctors pessimistic and telling us he wouldnt make it. But here we are 5 months later and he is still alive...Oh but i forgot a slight detail he had blood trauma to his spine...which now leaves him paralyzed from right below the shoulders down. He is now at a hospital that specializes in spinal cord and brain injuries. It is a long tough road but it is wayyy better then the alternative i couldnt manage life without my dad.
Spending time at this hospital you learn so many different things..such as people are to relying on physical outlook then the real picture...what it took for you to get there. Not saying i never used to think oh it is just a person in a wheel chair when you walk on the streets or in to store and run into someone with a chair but it takes so much work to even be able to sit in that chair..learn to drive that chair..Each person in this hospital has a story to tell but it is like a community here everyone feels really secure because everyone is just like them in some way or another. Granted there will be a time when each person will enter back into the real world but for now this is it and they are each others motivation whether they are old or young this hospital has it all...but what goes on here is an amazing thing i can tell you that from first hand experience.
Obviously i would of rather not seen it happen but i have grown a lot from it
So i guess this is what i have to say to all of you...
Don't judge
Look deeper
Each person has a fantastic Story to tell..
